'SAHAPADI ' , a School Social Responsibility..

SAHAPADI ' , a School Social Responsibility Initiative by the Seed Club of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir  Elamakkara was organized on 30 May 2024 ,Thursday, at Kulapati K M Munshi Auditorium. Among the countless social outreach programmes undertaken by the Seed Club of the school, ' SAHAPADI ' is unique   as  it showcased how to be humane  by  extending support to the less privileged children of the neighbouring locality, by distributing school kits to them. The generous contribution made by the  students, sacrificing their desires,  to ' Seal your Desire ' project    proved  instrumental in making 'SAHAPADI ' a  reality. 

 Shri E Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra presided over the function and distributed the school kits among the deserving children from the locality.In his presidential address, he remarked that Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan schools believe in academic excellence, cultural elevation and societal  commitment and the students are carved into responsible citizens capable of  noble  thoughts and actions.Shri Prasanth Kumar ,Principal, Govt.Higher Secondary school, Elamakkara, Shri Rony John , Head of the Social Work Department, Arike Palliative Care Unit,Smt Vineetha Williams, ASHA worker ,Elamakkara  graced the occasion with their presence.

The 37th All Kerala Inter-School Science Quiz, hosted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, unfolded as a celebration of knowledge, collaboration, and the spirit of curiosity and discovery. The event was held on 28th February 2024  in connection with National Science Day, at Sardar Patel Sabha Griha, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi under the theme 'Indigenous Technologies for Vikasit Bharat’, paying homage to Sir C.V. Raman's ground breaking discovery of the Raman Effect. The formal function commenced with a prayer, followed by a captivating video presentation titled ‘A Saga of Science’, showcasing the remarkable contributions of scientists throughout history. Dignitaries including Shri E Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, Smt. Meena Viswanathan,Chief Coordinator Programmes ,Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Smt Jaya Jacob, Coordinator, Bhavans Research and Development Centre, Smt.Sukumari Menon, Smt. Vijayalakshmi N A,  Education officers,Smt Sunitha S,Academic Supervisor, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan,Kochi Kendra ,and Smt Umadevi,coordinator NTTC were present.
                                                                                                                                                                    Dr. Akshay Subramanian, a renowned figure in the quizzing circuit, served as the esteemed quiz master, guiding participants through intellectually stimulating rounds and 22 schools from across the state participated in the event in both Junior and Senior category.
Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara clinched the coveted first prize in the Senior level.Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya emerged  winners in the Junior level.
Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Girinagar secured the second place in both the categories.
 Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara and Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya,Kakkanad secured the third prizes in the Junior and Senior Category respectively.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, Director,Shri E Ramankutty distributed the certificates, cash prizes and trophies to the winners.
The competition, more than just a contest, was a platform for students to demonstrate their academic prowess and critical thinking skills. The atmosphere buzzed with camaraderie and healthy competition as participants showcased their knowledge and enthusiasm.

51st Annual Day Celebrations at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara

 Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara celebrated its 51st Annual Day with zeal and enthusiasm  for the kindergarten & primary section on January 29, 2024 and secondary and senior secondary section on 30 January 2024.  The events  took place on the school premises from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm on both days. On the first day, the festivities commenced with a soulful prayer by the school choir followed by welcome address by Smt K Sreeja, the Primary School Coordinator. Smt Shobha S, Teacher-in-Charge of the Kindergarten section, presented the annual report of the KG section. Smt Sreedevi A, Vice Principal, provided insights into the achievements of the school and its students in all fields. The chief guest, Smt Sukumari Menon, Education Officer ,Shikshan Bharati, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, graced the event with an inspiring address. Felicitations were extended by Smt Vijayalakshmi N A, Education Officer, Shikshan Bharati, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Shri Jayadevan C, Vice President of the PTA. Master Tanay Krishnan, Head Boy of the Primary section, proposed the vote of thanks. It was a grandiose event packed with talent and festivity ,showcasing the creativity and achievements of the students. The school band made its debut performance, adding a musical charm to the celebration.

FCC, Govt of India, Former Director, KFRI ) was the Chief Guest of the Secondary and Senior Secondary section Annual Day held on 30 January. CA Venugopal C Govind, Chairman , Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra,  presided over the function and Sri E Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, addressed the gathering . Smt Jaya Jacob, Coordinator, Bhavan's Research & Development Centre, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra and  PTA President Adv. Meera V Menon offered felicitations. Principal, Smt Mini K presented the annual report of the Secondary and Senior Secondary section. Prizes were distributed by the guests of honour and other dignitaries to the  meritorious students. Teachers who completed 25 years and 10 years of service were honoured.  School  Head Girl Kumari Gitanjali R Vani reminisced about  her school life. Smt Sumi U Menon , Assistant Vice Principal proposed vote of thanks. The cultural and artistic fete that followed really  enthralled the audience.The 51st Annual Day at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara left an indelible mark, celebrating academic achievements and the vibrant spirit of the school community.

51st Annual Sports Day

 The programmes for the primary and secondary sections commenced  with the march past led by the captains of eight houses.  Dr Syam Kumar, Former School Sports Captain was the Chief guest of the day for the primary section. He hoisted the school flag and declared the meet open. While addressing the students, he  spoke on the positive aspects of sports. Sri S Sasidharan IPS, Deputy Commissioner  of Police, Law and Order, Traffic, Kochi City was the Chief Guest for the Secondary Section. The promising sports person of the school , Junior Sports Captain , Joe Francis handed over the torch to the Chief Guest . Senior Sports Captain Aadi Krishna  administered the oath to the office bearers to participate in all events with true sportsmanship. The chief guest in his inaugural address  highlighted  the importance of gaining knowledge  and  to commit ourselves to the progress of the Nation. He urged students to be vigilant against corruption in all forms. The Chief Guest then declared the Sports meet open.  To add splendour and grandeur , children laid out an array of programmes.64 students participated in the PE display followed by yoga display by students  of classes 6 to 12.   In celebration of Kerala Piravi, Meleri Nomadic Folk Band delivered a mesmerizing performance at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara on November 1, 2023. The event, held in the school auditorium at 11 am, was attended by Class IX and X students, creating an intimate atmosphere for the performance.The talented musicians of Meleri Nomadic Folk Band showcased their traditional folk music, captivating the audience with their melodious tunes and vibrant energy. The event was live-streamed for all classes allowing the entire school to participate in the festivities.  In the 29th Bhavan’s Cup Inter School BasketBall Tournament which was held at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara from 25th September to 27th September, Rajagiri Christu Jayanthi Public School bagged the coveted Bhavan’s Cup and Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara bagged the Runners up trophy in the girls category. Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir Girinagar clinched the P P Muraleekrishnan Memorial ever-rolling trophy and S N Vidya Bhavan Senior Secondary School,Chentrappinni,Thrissur won the Runners up trophy in the boys category. Rtn Vinu Mammen, President Rotary Club of Cochin East , Rtn Mathew Sunny ,Secretary, Rotary Club and Principal Smt.Mini K gave away the trophies and certificates. 16 schools participated in the tournament with 10 & 12 teams in the boys and girls category respectively. Pratheeksha 2023 Feria Tecnologica: Edición Jurasica at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara.

 PRATHEEKSHA 2023 'Feria Technologica'  the Annual Inter-school Fest organized by Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara was held on 16 September 2023. The inaugural ceremony began with a mesmerizing dance performance by the students of class XI. Shreya S Pillai of Class XI welcomed the gathering.Principal Smt. Mini K delivered the opening remarks at the inaugural function.

Presidential address was given by CA  Venugopal C Govind,Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kochi Kendra. Delivering the inaugural address, Dr.K C Unnikrishnan, MD & CEO Xalten Systems Pvt Ltd. emphasized the value of inter school fests in the lives of students. He stressed that in addition to helping children develop a healthy sense of competitive streak, these events provide the participants and the organising batch of students with opportunities for collaboration, constructive thinking and honing of creative skills.Sri E. Ramankutty ,Director Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kochi Kendra addressed the gathering.   Pratheeksha 2023 effectively combines the enchantment of the Jurassic era with the cutting-edge realms of Artificial Intelligence and technology, as manifested through an array of competitions echoing this theme. 
The festival featured a diverse spectrum of seven tech-driven competitions, catering to students spanning from the tender grades 4 and 5 to the seasoned students of higher secondary school. Participants engaged in a plethora of contests, ranging from digital painting and coding challenges to tech innovation pitches, virtual ramps, robot combat, and the creation of imaginative realms. Adding an element of surprise, an escape room challenge was introduced exclusively for students of grades 9 to 12.
The grand finale unfolded with a valedictory function, graced by the presence of the renowned cine artist, Dev Mohan. The event concluded with a spectacular performance rendered by the school band. Bhavan's Munshi Vidyashram, Tripunithura took home the coveted trophy for the overall Champions and Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad was the first runner up.

 Janmashtami was celebrated at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara with great fervour and devotion on 7th September 2023. Attired as Lord Krishna and Radha, the tiny tots of the Primary Section participated in the procession which added colour to the celebration.   Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara celebrated Onam with much gaiety and enthusiasm on 25th August 2023.

The 'Pookkalam' laid by the staff and students ushered in the festive spirit of Onam. A student clad in customary attire as 'Onappottan'  with the 
accompaniment of Chendamelam gave his blessings to all . A variety of colourful programmes unfolded for the students . The  Mahabali’s 
arrival  set the tone for the day’s celebration. The array of traditional art forms Vallamkali, Thumbithullal, Pulikali and Thiruvathira performed by students and teachers highlighted the culture and tradition of Kerala. The school band & the teachers of various departments added flavour to the celebration with their enthusiastic rendering of ‘Onappattukal’. Payasam was distributed to the entire school. The tug of war between members of BEOSA (Bhavan’s Elamakkara Old Students Association ) and students of Std XII triggered the sporting & competitive instincts of the spectators, who cheered and encouraged the participants with zeal & want The celebration was indeed an event to cherish.

 To promote the resurgence and preservation of Sanskrit, 'the mother of all languages' in India,Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara celebrated World Sanskrit Day on 23rd  August 2023. Being  one of the first spoken languages in the world, Sanskrit is of great importance in the ancient history of India. To mark the occasion, a special morning assembly was held. The prayer and pledge were rendered in Sanskrit. The melodious songs presented by thestudents of the  Primary Section and the dance performance by the students of the Secondary Section reiterated the importance of the language.One hundred and five students from classes 3 to 12  participated in this cultural extravaganza .The day acknowledges the place Sanskrit holds in Indian history and culture.

Saluting the Nation on 77th Independence Day

  Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara celebrated our country’s 77th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 15th August, 2023 in the school premises. The spirit of  freedom and nationalism was well exhibited by our students through a spectrum of events.Principal Smt. Mini K hoisted the flag at 9am. While addressing the students, Smt. Mini K reminded the students to safeguard the sovereignty of our nation and to act as responsible citizens of the country . As is customary, the NCC cadets of the school rendered the patriotic song 'Hum Sab Bharatiy Hai'.The maiden school team of Guides rendered their prayer and flag song on this occasion . Smt. Liby P Prasad, teacher from the Dept of Social Science, in her message to the students, urged them to use the opportunity to imbibe the values our ancestors upheld to help India revive as a nation envisioned by our great leaders.To achieve this, she requested the students to become responsible and well educated citizens of tomorrow’s India. An array of programmes that included patriotic songs and mime by students of Std Vlll & IX awakened everyone’s feelings towards our Motherland. As a part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Department of Posts had distributed National flags of size 20x30 inches to be hoisted in their houses. To plant the seed of entrepreneurship among the students,a workshop has been conducted on 31July 2023 at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara by the  TYE(Tie Young Entrepreneurs).
The dignitaries lighted the ceremonial lamp and inaugurated the programme. 
Principal Smt.Mini K welcomed the august gathering. Presidential address was delivered by Shri.Damodar Avannor,President, TiE Kerala. Dr.Geemon Korah Executive Director, Mane Kanor gave the keynote address. Shri.Vinodini Sukumar ,TYE Global Chair briefed the programme. Smt.Meena Viswanathan , Chief Cultural  Coordinator & very senior member of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan family graced the occasion.

 Bhavan’s Elamakkara observed the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July 2023 to commemorate the victory of Indian soldiers over the infiltrating Pakistani troops. Thejus K V of class VIII delivered a speech in the morning assembly. The chief guest of the day, Shri Bhupinder Singh, Sergeant, Punjab regiment addressed the students of class VII in the auditorium. In his speech, he extolled the supreme sacrifices of our brave soldiers    and exhorted the students to uphold and safeguard the integrity of the nation.

CHHAU performed at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara.

 Chhau Dance,the traditional art form of Bengal, jointly  organised by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra and SPIC MACAY was staged at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara on 24 July 2023. A team comprising 16 artistes under the leadership of Tamal Kanti Rajak  performed a repertoire that explores the myth of Mahishasura Mardini. The reverberating drum beats of a variety of drums dominated the accompanying music ensemble. The vibrant music is characterized by the rhythms of indigenous drums like the dhol, dhumsa and kharka and the melody of the mohuri and shehnai. For the students of Std Vand VI who watched the performance in rapt attention, it was a unique experience and it gave them an insight into the rich legacy of artforms for which our nation is respected. The performance was live streamed for classes 1, 2, 3 & 4. Shri Tamal Kanti Rajak was honoured with a ponnada by the School Principal Smt Mini K. The aim of staging such indigenous art forms is an earnest attempt to acquaint the younger generation with the rich cultural and artistic fabric  of our nation.

  The auspicious ‘Ramayana week celebrations’ at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara commenced on 19th July .Shri.V Kaladharan,Former Deputy Registrar Kerala Kalamandalam,Deemed University ina ugurated the week-long celebration by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the students in the morning assembly, he stressed the relevance of Ramayana in the present times and the significance of imbibing the values that the epic embodies .This was followed by the ‘Ramayana parayanam’ and its ‘Vyakhyanam’ by students. The soulful rendering of the Bhajan by singers of the Ahimsa & Sevanam house added sanctity to the occasion. To mark the celebration,the school has organised various intra mural activities and competitions like drawing, identifying characters from Ramayana, Bhajan, skits that portray different episodes in Ramayana and paper presentation on topics related to Ramayana and its characters. This week-long celebration enables the students to familiarize themselves with the timeless values that Ramayana upholds . It also provides an opportunity to enhance 21 st century skills among students.

Student leaders offered Gurudakshina to the chief guest,  Smt Ambika N Menon,former teacher of Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara.They also offered Dakshina to the Principal, Vice Principal and Assistant Vice Principal. In her address, Smt. Ambika N Menon reminded the students about the importance of a teacher who is not only responsible for the academic growth of students but is also the one who motivates, handholds and enables them fulfil their dreams. As the whole school was filled with the reverberation of the holy manthra ' Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu Gurur Devo Maheswara…', the students offered 'Guru Dakshina' to their class teachers.

 The inauguration of the various clubs of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara for the academic year 2023-24 was held on 30 June 2023. The ceremony started with an invocation to the Almighty followed by the welcome speech by Adhrija Raj of class VII. The club was formally inaugurated by Sri. Sreekanth Murali, cine actor. Addressing the gathering Sri. Sreekanth Murali spoke about the importance of school clubs and how it helps students nurture their talents. The members of the various clubs presented a musical fusion.The various school clubs give the students an opportunity to showcase and hone their talents as well as prepare them for intra school competitions and various club activities that are conducted throughout the year.

 Intending to improve the understanding of the World Drug Problem and foster greater international co-operation for countering its impact on health, Governance and security, Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara observed International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26- 06-2023.Aswinkumar A, a student of class X spoke on the hazards of drug addiction and illegal trafficking in the morning assembly. Shri Bipin Bose , Civil Excise officer was the chief guest of the day who

award function on 23 June 2023.
Smt. Sonia P M ,class teacher coordinator of Std XII 2022-23 welcomed the august gathering Principal Smt.Mini K presented an overview of the results of SSCE & SSE 2022-2023. Sri E Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra presided over the function. In his presidential address, he emphasized the importance of setting goals in life and striving to  achieve excellence.

  Spreading awareness about the benefits of Yoga, which embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action and harmony between man and nature, Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara observed the 9th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2023. The chief guest of the day Dr.

Poornathrayee Jayaprakash Sharma, a musician and yoga instructor addressed the students in the morning assembly. Agraja of class XI delivered a speech in the assembly. A Yoga display by the students and a special Yoga session for teachers were organized. Shalini Rakesh, Life Skill Trainer addressed the students of class XI in the auditorium.
