With high expertise, collaborative leadership and academic rigour we open the doors of endless possibilities for our children and nurture them into fruitful individuals. This report comprises the achievements made during the year gone by and at the same time sets the path for greater accomplishments in the years to come.

A warm welcome to everyone present here today. Every day is a new beginning. It is an enduring tradition to take time to pause, turn around to look at the fruitful year gone by synergizing ourselves to move ahead with a positive attitude. The year witnessed many milestones of excellent achievements in Academics, Co-Curricular activities, Sports and games, which aimed at improving the quality education and all-round development of the students. I feel proud and privileged to present the school's journey during the academic year 2023-24.

New Vice Principal Takes Over:Smt. Sreedevi A assumed the role of Vice Principal on July 1st, succeeding the former Associate Principal, Smt. Sreejyothi N, who was elevated to the position of Principal at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar.

About the school Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara always aspires for new goals each year and strives relentlessly to achieve them. Catering to more than 2790 students, the school has on its rolls 120teaching and 19 non-teaching staff members and pursues a holistic approach of education in grooming the skills and talents of students.

Our school is also an accredited centre of NIOS - National Institute of Open Schooling with a strength of 46 students from classes IX to XII. The School Library, also a member of the National Digital Library of India, is stocked with as many as 17739 books and the book stock is replenished every year. The virtual library is also a favourite haunt of students. The Resource Room under the stewardship of 5 specially trained teachers functions for the benefit of almost 100 students who seek additional support in academics & for the emotional & mental well being of students.

With the valuable assistance of a skilled counsellor, students' overall well-being and development receive dedicated attention. The counsellor offers both emotional support and guidance to navigate academic challenges effectively.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) at our school boasts a vibrant membership, comprising a total of 50 dedicated students - 32 boys and 18 girls. Together, they contribute to the spirited and disciplined atmosphere fostered by the NCC, embodying the values of leadership, teamwork, and national service.

The Atal Tinkering Lab provides activity based learning where young minds can acquire a problem solving, tinkering and innovative mindset.

The PTA Executive Committee for the year was formed with Adv. Meera Menon as the President. The committee takes a proactive approach to help the school constructively. The school clubs serve as platforms for students to showcase and refine their talents, preparing them for both intra-school competitions and various activities held throughout the academic year. The diverse clubs for the academic year 2023-24 were inaugurated by the actor and director, Sri Srikanth Murali. The Installation Ceremony of the President, Sreya S Pillai and the board of directors of the Interact Club for the academic year 2023-2024 was held in the school auditorium on 19th September 2023. Principal, Smt. Mini. K, Rtn. Vinu Mammen, President, Rotary Club of Cochin East and Rtn. Swarna Revathy, Youth Service Director, Rotary Club of Cochin East graced the occasion with their presence. The School Parliament The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.

Donning the mantle of accountability, the school senate took charge on 16 June 2023 .Senior Head Boy Thomas Joshy, Senior Head Girl Gitanjali R Vani, Senior Sports Captain Aadhi Krishna, Junior Head boy Niranjan Sreejith, Junior Head Girl Samvritha Warrier, Junior Sports Captain Joe Francis and the other leaders including the house captains took charge as the ffice bearers of the school Parliament. 

Academic Achievements

“Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution”.

The outstanding performance of our students in the CBSE Board Examination brought laurels to the school. In Std X, out of the 199 students who appeared for SSE 2022-2023, 184 students secured distinction and 37 students secured A1 in all subjects. Moksha R Rao emerged the school topper with 99.6%.In Std XII, out of the 207 students who appeared for the SSCE 2022-2023, 172 secured distinction and 35 students secured A1 in all subjects. Nandini M Prakash the Science topper secured 99% , Rakesh Subbaraman topped the Commerce stream with 97.8% and the topper of the Humanities stream was Sanjana S Menon who secured 98.2% .The credit for this outstanding achievement goes to the tireless efforts of the students, teachers and dedicated parent community. 

School Achievements

Vishishta Haritha Vidyalaya Puraskaram : Our school received the SEED ‘Vishishta Haritha Vidyalaya Puraskaram’ worth Rs 1 lakh for its high standard of excellence, environmental leadership and positive performance in the SEED Project. The award was presented by Sri. S Somanath, Chairman, ISRO, in the prestigious award ceremony held on 27 October 2023 at Bhaskareeyam Convention Centre, Elamakkara.

All India Bhavan's Science Exhibition : Our school bagged the second prize in the All India Bhavan's Science Exhibition, Vigyan Yatra, for the theme Environmental Issues and was awarded a cash prize worth Rs 3000/-.

All Kerala Bhavan's Cultural Fest 2023 - We lifted the first Runners Up trophy in the XXV All Kerala Bhavan's Cultural Fest Category I -V held at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor.

We were also the champions in Category- III. Revathy Narayan was conferred with the coveted “Bhavan’s Jyothi” title in Category V.

We emerged champions in KRITHI 2023, organized by Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor, 26th All Kerala Inter School Oratorical Contest conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya,Tripunithura, Inter school Bhagavad Gita Competition organized by Bhavan's Trissur Kendra and Srushti Tihai 2023 organized by Bhavan's Munshi Vidyashram, Thiruvankulam.

In Magnum Opus 2023 held at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Girinagar we bagged the 1st Runner Up Trophy .

We bagged the 2nd Runners Up Trophies in Labyrinth 2023 Kalakriti organized by Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad and in the 29th All Kerala Children's Fest conducted by Cochin Shipyard.

Our school won various prizes in the Sahodaya Fest, held at Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor and St.Peter's Senior Secondary School, Kadayirippu and in the State CBSE Kalotsav held at Sree Sarada Vidyalaya, Kalady. 

The first Prize for the Rhythm Ki Rang in Suvarna Chaitanya organized by Chinmaya Vidyalaya,Vaduthala and the second prize in Urban Jamm in the Tarantella 2023 held at Greets Public School,Kaloor were also some noteworthy accomplishments.

The school emerged triumphant by winning various prizes in Sargolsavam organized by Balajanasakhyam at Greets Public School, Kaloor and in UDAAN, held at Bhavan’s Arts and Science College, Kakkanad. 

In the Literature Fest organized by the Rotary Club of Cochin our school won the first prize in the poster making competition.

Our students made us proud by bagging various prizes in Nadanirjhari - Carnatic & Instrumental Music Competition, held at Vidyodaya School.

Achievements of Teachers

? Smt. Jayasree L, Head of the Department of Physics, has been appointed as the Scientix Ambassador from 1st July 2023 to to 31s December 2024.

? Smt. Susheela Gopinathan, Department of Yoga, won the first prize in the yoga championship in Category 45 above- Woman, conducted by the District Sports Council and Yoga Association, Ernakulam. She won the second prize in the 5th Kerala Master’s Game Yogasana Competition.

Having successfully cleared the Indian Yoga Federation Juries Examination, she was

subsequently appointed as the judge for the same. She is also appointed as the guide captain of

the 244th Ernakulam Guide Group.

? Smt. Deepa A Nair, Department of Chemistry, was awarded the SOF Best Overall District

Coordinator Award.

? Smt. Rashmi P Raju, Department of Physics, won the third prize in the Poster Presentation Competition (Vidyajwala 2023) organised by Vidyodaya school. She received the Innovation Ambassador Certificate on the successful completion of the School Innovation Ambassador Training Program of the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, AICTE and CBSE.

? Our school lifted the 1st Runner Up Trophy in the Multisports for Teachers - Phase I, held at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Eroor .

? Smt. Bindu K and Smt. Jayasree L are placed among the top 30 percentile in the International Teachers’ Olympiad.

Student Achievements

Success is not an activity but a process. The outstanding achievements of our students in a plethora of events made us gleam with pride.

 

? Abel Geo Giby of IX F attended the NCC Combined All Wing Annual Training Camp held at Federal Institute of Science And Technology (FISAT).

? Devika Ajay, Varada. B, Nandakishor S, Eshan Unni, Sarang L V and P.Gayathri participated in the 11th National Integration Camp of Bhavan's Secondary & Sr.Secondary Schools 2023 organised by Bhavan's Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir, Calcutta.

? Sankalpa Suresh Babu of VI B, Jahnvi Prajeesh of VI B, Aadhya Girish P K of VI A and Shreya Prasanth of VI E attended the Patrol Leader’s Training Camp organized by the Kerala State Bharat Scouts & Guides held at Govt. H S, Elamakkara.

? Sarang L V of IX A secured the first Prize in Elocution conducted by ISKCON in connection with Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

? Aparna Rayaroth of grade XI C2 secured the 11th position in Mathrubhumi Sammanavidya - The Big Vacation Challenge and received a Tablet and certificates. She was also selected as the best speaker in the 26th All Kerala Inter School Oratorical Contest conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Tripunithura. She along with her teammate 

Shreya S Pillai (XI B) was selected as the best team in the 26th All Kerala Inter School Oratorical Contest conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Tripunithura.

? Ila Laxmi Sharma of class IX C entered the India Book of Records as the fastest teen to solve a 3X3 Rubik’s Cube while moving on Roller Skates. She set a world record of maximum number of magic tricks performed by an individual female in five minutes and has entered Worldwide Book of Records. She bagged the first position in Seed 5 Star Mathsaram “Avadhikkaala Ormakal” at the district level.

? Sradha Manesh entered the India Book of Records as the fastest person to write the 118 elements of the Periodic table in mirror writing without any reference.

? Sidharth A Shenoy and Lal Krishna bagged the second position in Funzione Trigonometrica, paper presentation competition on 'Trigonometry in Real life', organised by Bhavan's Newsprint Vidyalaya,Velloor.

? Aarabhi K S of V B authored and successfully published two books namely Timmy’s Whispers and Mission Impossible. Her books were published by Bri Books.

? Malavika A R of VII B secured the First Prize in Malayala Manorama Akhila Kerala Balajanasakyam - Handwriting Competition held at YMCA Hall, Kadavanthra.

? Sunandh P Menon of X B was adjudged the winner in Oisca-Milma Top Teen Contest, Ernakulam District and was selected to the State Level.

? In the Secure Bytes 1.0, conducted by Bhavan's Munshi Vidyashram, Advait M Pai (IX A) and Sradha Manish ( XI B) got the second position and received a cash prize of 2000/-.

? Karthik A Bejoy secured the first position in the Maths Talent Search Examination held during

the academic year 2022-2023.

? Abhinav Rejish (XI A2) and Sanjay S K (XI A1) secured the first prize for the App Prototyping Contest in Abhyudaya organized by Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad.

? Sidharath A Shenoy & Abhinav Harish secured the first prize for the Conversion through Conservation event in the Atal Innovation Competition 2023 organised by Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Girinagar.

? Vydyanathan S of IX C won the third prize in Violin Eastern in Category 3 at the CBSE State Kalotsav held at Sree Sarada Vidyalaya, Kalady.

? Haizam Binas of VII B received an opportunity to act in 3D Space Safari, India’s first Educational 3D movie.

 

ACHIEVEMENTS IN QUIZ AND MUN

The school has a vibrant quizzing culture, thanks to the enthusiastic quizzers of our school. Leading the quiz team from the forefront is the duo Aman B Manoj and Sarang L V, who brought laurels to our school by emerging victorious in a multitude of quizzes, the most notable among these being the first prize in the All Kerala Asianet Whizkid Quiz Contest. It fetched them a cash prize worth Rupees One Lakh. The other major prizes won by them include the first prize in the District Level Forest and Wildlife Quiz conducted by the Kerala Forest

Department, the first position in the Indica quiz (Seniors), first position in the MediQuiz- Amrita

Kiranam 2023 (District Level), conducted by General Hospital, first position in the PaavIQ Quiz

conducted by Paavai Group of Schools, Salem, second position in state level INTACH Quiz held

at Kerala Museum, Edappally, second position in Bharat Ko Jano Quiz conducted by Vishwa

 

Hindu Parishad and second Runner Up position in the Ernakulam City Finals of T.I.M.E Aqua

Regia, Science Quiz.

Our school team, comprising of Aman B Manoj, Akshay Narayanan and Sarang L V,

secured the first position in the Science Quiz Competition held during the Amrita Medical Edu

Expo.

Aman B Manoj won the Second prize in Insight India Quiz,World Final organized by

Vidyaniketan Public School and received a cash prize worth Rs 10,000. He won the second position in

the V G Siddhartha Memorial Quiz conducted at Amber Valley School, Chikmagalur. He was awarded

a certificate, Tab, and other gifts. He secured the first prize in Category II in the Campion Sports Quiz

Grand 2023 held at Campion School, Cochin.

Rishabh Vinod of class VIII won the second rank in the State Level Camp (Level-II)

Examination of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM), organized by Vijnana Bharati(VIBHA)  for

the 2nd consecutive year and was selected for the National Camp to be held in the month of

May.

Dev Nair of X E bagged the first position in the VVM State Level Camp held at our school. He

will be attending the National camp to be held in the month of May.

Keerti Manjit from XII C2 and Niya Shine from XII A1 secured the third position in the

Ramnarayan Chellaram Roto Quiz National-Level Finals organized by the Rotary Club at Bangalore

Rotary House of Friendship.

Keerthana Krishnamohan and Niranjan Shekhar Anoop won the first position in their

respective category in the H & C All Kerala Quiz Competition 2023-24 State Finals, held in our

school. Keerthana Krishnamohan also secured the first prize in the Gandhi Jayanthi Quiz conducted by

Akshara Library, Perandoor.

Harith Mohan secured the first prize in the Bharatheeyam Quiz, jointly organized by

Mahatma Mathrubhumi Study Circle, Information and Public Relations Department and Cochin

Rotary Club. Harith Mohan and Akshay Narayanan won the second Prize in the Quiz

competition held at Mangalam College of Engineering, Ettumanoor.

Harishankar Madhu of X E bagged the first prize in the Just A Minute Competition held at

Mangalam College of Engineering, Ettumanoor.

 

Dheeraj Nambiar and Pranav D secured the second position in the Indica quiz (Juniors) held at

Town Hall.

Niya Shine, Rhea Ann Roy and Keerti Manjit secured the second position in the quiz

organized by MA College, Kothamangalam and received certificates and a cash prize worth ? 30,000.

 

MUN

 

? Aparna Rayaroth of grade XI C2 secured the High Commendation award and Pranav A Nair of XI

C2 secured the Honourable Mention - Silver award in the G20 MUN 2023 organized by Kochi

Sahodaya at The Choice School.

? Seventeen students accompanied by Smt. Anjana P C, faculty advisor, Department of

English attended the Harvard Model United Nations - India 2023 held in Bangalore from

12th August - 15th August 2023 .

? Harishankar Madhu of X E received the Diplomacy Award in UNDP and Ryan Koshy of XII C2

received the Diplomacy Award in SPECPOL in RMUN 2023 organized by Rajagiri Public

School, Kalamasseri. Malavika Hareesh of XII C2 and Moksha R Rao of XI C2 received verbal

mention.

? Sanjay Binoj Nair (X D) secured the Best Position Paper Award (WTO) in the SVAPASYA

BMUN 2023 organised by Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Eroor.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN SPORTS AND GAMES

KATA CHAMPIONSHIP

 

? Athena Deepraj secured the second position in the individual Kata event, Green Belt

category in Shorin-Ryu Seibukan International Okinawan Kata Championship held at

Narakkal Island Club.

? Varsha Saju of Std X bagged the second prize in Colour Belt (Girls) for Kata in the All Kerala Inter

School Karate Championship held at Al-Ameen Public School, Edappally .

 

? Maitreyi Kiran secured the first position in the individual Kata Color Belt Category in the 11th

Soke Mabuni Kerala Cup Karate Championship held at Municipal Town Hall, Kalamassery.

 

CHESS

 

Our school emerged champions at the District Chess Selection Tournament organised

jointly by the Lions International District 318 C and Ernakulam Chess Association at Kakkand

Municipal Community Hall. Adwaith Praveen, Adwik Praveen, Pragyan S Rao and Devjith R

became winners in their respective categories.

In the Kerala State Chess In School (CiS) Selection Championship-2023 our school won the

Second Runners-Up Trophy, under the aegis of Ernakulam Chess Association held at Naipunnya

Public School, Thrikkakara.

Abhay Kiren Thekkethil of II A won the first Position in the Ernakulam District Chess

Championship 2023 (Under 7 Boys category) held at Adiniru Academy, Ambattukavu. He also

came first in the TGS Chess Tournament .

 

Adwaith Praveen of Std IX excelled in chess, winning the first prize in the Ernakulam

District Inter School Team Chess Championship. He also secured the second prize in the All

Kerala CV Paul Memorial Inter School Open Chess Tournament (HS section) and Ernakulam

District Inter School Individual Selection Chess Championship. Adwaith participated in the 48th

National Sub Junior Chess Championship in Anubhuti School, Jalgaon, Maharashtra, and the

Qatar Masters Open Chess Championship in October 2023.

Advik Praveen of class IV E secured the 16th rank in the 36th National Under 9 Open Chess

Championship 2023, held at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.He also participated in the Qatar Master’s Open

2023.

 

KHO-KHO

 

Our Kho-Kho team (boys) bagged the second position in the Under-12 Mini Kho-Kho

Tournament conducted by District Kho-Kho Association held at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary

 

School, Ernakulam South. Eleven students from our school were also selected for the State

Tournament.

 

BADMINTON

 

Our school bagged the First Runners up trophy in the 18th Archbishop Joseph Attippetty

Memorial Inter School Shuttle Badminton Tournament held at Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School.

Individual prizes are:

? Lakshmi Sujith (XI C2) and Deethya Nair ( XI A2) secured the first position in Under 17 Girls

Category.

? Nandan B Nair (VII B), Jovin Sojan (VII E) and Sabari Prasanth(VII E) secured the first

position in Under 14 Boys Category.

? Lakshmi Sujith (XI C2) secured the second position in Under 17 Girls- Singles Category.

Nandan B Nair of VII B won the first Position in Yonex Sunrise- All Kerala Sub Junior

Badminton Championship 2023 in Under 13 Boys category organized by Kerala Badminton (Shuttle)

Association held at Forecourt Badminton Stadium, Thodupuzha.

Nidhi B Nair of III A secured the first Position in PNB MetLife All Kerala Junior Badminton

Championship in Under 9 Girls Singles held at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kochi.

In the KBSA Affiliated CBSE Schools Shuttle Tournament our school emerged the second runner

up. Mohammad Arif secured the first runner up position in Under 15 Boys Singles and Mohammed

Aadhil bagged the first runner up position in the Under 9 Boys Singles.

 

SHOOTING

 

Nathaan Zahi, who brought laurels to our school in the field of shooting, won various

prizes in the District Shooting Championships 2023 held at RSC Shooting Academy,

Kadavanthra & Rifle Club, Alappuzha. He earned the silver medal at the CBSE South Zone

Shooting Championship held at Delhi Public School, Kochi.

SWIMMING

 

Akshay Ginil of VI A Secured the second position in 50 M Backstroke in the Global

Super Slam 23 Inter School Swimming Competition conducted by Global Public School,

Thiruvaniyoor.

Akshay Ginil (VIA) was awarded gold medal in 100m Bi-fins and his team won gold in 4 x 100 m

Bi-fin relay at the 3rd National Finswimming Championship held at Pune. He secured the first position in

Aqua Meet (50 Mtr. Backstroke) in the VISIO, Inter School Competition in Arts and Sports, held at

Chavara Darsan CMI Public School, Koonammavu.

BASKETBALL

 

Gautham V Nambiar of grade IX E was adjudged the Best Player of the Match in the Toc H

Centenary Cup Basketball Tournament for Boys in Under 13 Category.

In the XXIX Bhavan’s Cup Inter-School Basketball Tournament organised by our school, we

bagged the Runners up trophy in the girls category.

FOOTBALL

 

Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara bagged the 1st Runners Up Trophy in the Super

Slam 23 Inter School Football Tournament organised by Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor.

Bharath R of grade XI A1 was selected as the best goalkeeper.

Our football team (Under -14) won the first Runners-Up position in the XII Bhavan’s All Kerala

Games held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Perumthuruthi. Alex Calvin Paul of VII B was selected

as the best goalkeeper.

Our football team emerged champions ( Under 14 yrs Boys Category) at the RCJPS Inter School

Football Tournament 2023 organised by RCJPS Kakkanad and received a cash prize worth ? 10,000.

 

ATHLETICS

 

Naethan Verghese John, one of the most promising athletes of our school, represented Kerala and

secured the 4th position in High Jump in the under 17 boys category at the CBSE National Athletic Meet

conducted at Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He won first prizes in high jump at the Kerala State Central School

Sports Meet organized by Kerala State Sports Council, the Central School Sports Meet conducted by

Prakriti Academy, Sahodaya Athletic Meet, 67th Dr Tony Daniel Ernakulam District Athletic Meet

organized by Ernakulam District Athletic Association and Kerala Cluster XI Athletic Meet. He secured

second place in Under 17 Boys high jump at the 39th Dr. K M Munshi Memorial All Kerala Inter-School

 

Athletic Meet held at Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad. In the 100 M race at the Sahodaya Athletic

Meet and the Kerala Cluster XI Athletic Meet he won the first and second prizes respectively.

The kids athletic team secured the first runner up trophy in the level 3 girls category at the 2nd

Ernakulam District Kids Athletics Championship.

Sruthi Sudhakaran of XII A1 secured the third place in the Under 18 Women’s High Jump and

Maria Alphonsa of IX D secured the third place in the Under 16 Girl’s Discus Throw at the 67th Dr

Tony Daniel Ernakulam District Athletic Meet and were qualified for the Kerala State Athletics

Championship, representing Ernakulam district.

Krishnanjana N M of II A bagged the second prize in Cricket Ball Throw in Under 8 Girls

Category and Ummukulsu P R of VI F won the second prize in Long Jump in Under 12 Girls Category in

the 1st Mini Athletic Championship 2023 held at Maharajas College Ground, Ernakulam .

We won the following prizes in the 39th Dr.K M Munshi Memorial All Kerala Inter-School

Athletic Meet held at Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad :

? Shwetha K won the First prize in Shot Put (U14 Girls) .

? Vaiga Shijith, Gautham S and Maria Alphonsa secured the second prizes in Shot Put (U 12 Girls),

High Jump (U 12 Boys) and Discus Throw (U 17 Girls) respectively.

? Maryann V Jacob, Manav Raj Krishna and Madhavan Manoj bagged the second prizes in Shot

Put (U 17 Girls), High Jump (U 14 Boys) and 200 m Running Race (U 14 Boys) respectively.

 

Our school won the following prizes in the Central Sports Meet organised by Kerala State Sports

Council :

? Sruthi Sudhakaran of XII A1 secured the first position in Long Jump ang High jump in

under 19 Girls Category.

? Four of our athletes secured second positions in various events namely Maria Alphonsa in

Shot Put (U 17 Girls), Anna Thomas in High Jump (U 14 Girls), Swetha K in Shot Put (U 14

Girls) and Madhavan Manoj in 100 m Running Race (U 14 Boys).

Our dedicated athletes also made us proud by clinching the following prizes at the Kochi

Sahodaya Inter School Athletic Meet held at Sree Narayana Vidya Peedam, Tripunithura.

? Vaiga Shijith secured the first position in Shot Put (Sub Junior Girls).

? Anna Thomas, Ummukulusu P R and Maria Alphonsa bagged second positions in High Jump

(Junior Girls), Long Jump (Sub Junior Girls) and Discus throw (Senior Girls) respectively.

 

YOGA

Our yoga team won a multitude of prizes soaring our school’s name and fame.

Hussna Kareem won the first Position in the Online Yogasana Competition 2023 organized by

Gosree Yoga Mandir.

Our school team, comprising of Thanmay S Rao, Ishan S.A, Deepika Pramod, Nandana R.R,

Agney C R, Sidharth Utham, Suvidh Prajeesh, Sruthi Sudhakar and Hussna Kareem, secured various

prizes in the yoga championship conducted by the District Sports Council and Yoga Association,

Ernakulam at Mar Athanasious Higher Secondary School.

Our school lifted the Ever-Rolling Trophy in the Ernakulam District Yogasana Championship,

held at Sree Sarada Vidyalayam and the 1st Runners Up Trophy in the All Kerala Yogasana

Championship held at Morning Star College, Angamaly.

Deepika Pramod (VIII), Hussna Kareem (Xll ) and Suvidh Pajeesh (XI) took part in the 42nd

National Yogasana Championship held at Sidhu Kanu Stadium, Durgapur, West Bengal and were

placed among the top 10.

 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMMES

 

As an outreach program, a Book Donation Drive and a performance of the interactive skit,

Ammaye Kando, was done by the students of Bhavan’s Vidyamandir, Elamakkara at Govt. BTS Lower

Primary School, Edappally.

‘Snehadaram’, a unique programme arranged to honour the yeomen service rendered by

the school’s support staff, was held just before the school closed for the Onam vacation.They

were presented with ‘Onakkodi' and ‘Onam Kits’.

To inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning and

physical computing, among students, an ATL community session was organized in our school on

25th October 2023. Students from Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Amrita Vidyalaya, Punnakkal

Govt School and Al Ameen school attended the same. The participants were given training in

Breadboard designing, Bibox tern and Arduino programming.

 

To provide a first hand learning experience, selected students from standard XI and XII

were taken to the Ernakulam District Court and Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Edappally.

 

DEVELOPING ONE’ S PROWESS

“Life as a teacher begins the day you realize that you are always a learner.”

Principal Smt Mini K attended the All India Conference for Principals held at Bharatiya

Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh.

Vice Principal Smt.Sreedevi A and teachers from the Department of Mathematics

attended a three day All India Mathematics Conference organized by AMTI held at Bhavan’s

Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad.

CBSE’s online teacher training courses ,organized by the various CBSE centres of

excellence, help teachers understand how they can hone their teaching methods and improve

students’ learning outcomes. These mandatory courses were attended by all the teachers with

much zeal and fervour.

As part of the faculty improvement programme the teachers attended various subject

specific workshops and webinars to enable them to promote the holistic development of students.

 

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES FOR HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT

The Annual Comprehensive Evaluation of the school was carried out on 16 August

2023 by the team of educators from Shikshan Bharati, the education wing of Bharatiya Vidya

Bhavan, led by the school’s education officer Smt Sukumari Menon.

All important occasions like the founder’s day, Environment day, Gurupoornima, Independence

day, Onam, Ramayana week, World Blood Donor’s day, Quit India Day, Nagasaki Day, Teachers’ day,

Navarathri, Children’s Day, Deepavali, Id , Christmas, Sanskrit day , Hindi Diwas, National Education

Day, Republic Day etc were observed & celebrated in a befitting manner.

 

The Talent Day was conducted for Std I -VIII on separate days and this was a platform for

students to showcase their talent and the success of the concept was largely due to the initiative &

enthusiasm of parents and teachers .

Vayanakalari, an initiative to inculcate reading habits among students, was inaugurated

by a team from Malayala Manorama on 13 June 2023.

Ezhuthupetty, an initiative by Akshara Public Library, was inaugurated by Dr

Nedumudy Harikumar, General Secretary, Samastha Kerala Sahitya Parishad, on 22nd July. It

aims at promoting the reading habits of students by encouraging them to drop their own stories,

synopsis of books they read and their creative work into a post box that will be placed in the

library.

With an aim to engage students in experiential learning activities that would promote

their practical skill development and real-life problem-solving abilities, Bagless Day was

observed for the students of Classes I to VIII.

The inauguration of Balajanasakhyam was held on 12 September 2023. Sri. P. I. Sankara

Narayananan, Author of Children’s Literature, inaugurated the function.

Medical check up for students was conducted in the AV Room from 19 th July to 31st July.

An ophthalmology camp for teachers was conducted on 20th July 2023 in the Yoga room.

Picnic : “The world is a book and those who do not travel, read only one page.” Students

from classes 1 to 10 and 12th were taken for one day trips to various places.

EduSports, a tool for nurturing mental, behavioral, and physical skills, initiated from classes

1 to 5 enables a holistic education by seamlessly blending sports and learning.

Newspaper In Education (NIE) helps infuse classrooms with current affairs, diverse

perspectives and a daily rendezvous with the world’s heartbeat. The Times of India and The Hindu

are circulated among the students of classes 5 to 8 and 9 & 10 respectively.

On the 84th birthday of the Padma Vibhushan awardee, legendary singer Sri. K. J.

Yesudas, the school choir team paid tribute to him by rendering a melodious song written by Sri.

B K Harishankar and composed by Sri. Bijibal. The school staff also united, crafting an

atmosphere of reverence through the harmonious threads of his timeless melodies.

 

The Annual Athletic Meet, a grand spectacle where the school’s spirit takes a flight on the

wings of athleticism and companionship, unfolded with precision. The meet for the primary and the

secondary sections held on November 3rd and 4th were inaugurated by the chief guests Sri Syam

Kumar, Former Sports Captain of the school and Sri S Sasidharan IPS, Deputy Commissioner of

Police respectively.

Skill subjects were initiated to unleash the potential of students and to go beyond

textbooks, fostering practical expertise for a future-ready education. The students were given

training in making candles, soaps and bags.

 

EVENTS HOSTED BY OUR SCHOOL

 

Class I ‘Praveshanolsavam’ for the academic year 2023-2024 was held on 05 June 2023

in the school auditorium. The little ones were welcomed to the school with fervour and festivity.

 

To honour and felicitate the students for their meritorious performance in the SSCE and

SSE 2022- 2023, the school organised Vidya Vandika, the Annual Award function on 23 June

2023.

The School Book Fair oraganised by DC books offered an enriching experience for the

students. This initiative by DC Books not only emphasized the importance of reading but also

created a vibrant and interactive platform for students to discover the joy of books.

Our school hosted two CBSE Capacity Building Programmes on 24th June and 29th

September. Principals, vice principals and teachers from various schools attended the same.

All Kerala Bhavan’s Principals Meeting was held on 12 July 2023 in the AV Room.

With the intention of acquainting kids with the rich cultural and artistic diversity

of our nation, Chhou Dance, the traditional art form of Bengal was jointly organised by Bharatiya

Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra and SPIC MACAY in the school auditorium on 24 July 2023.

TYE (TiE Young Entrepreneurs) 2023 -24 Inauguration Ceremony was held on 31st

July. Shri.Damodar Avanoor, President, TiE Kerala, Smt.Vinodini Sukumar, TYE Global Chair, Dr.

 

Geemon Korah, Executive Director, Mane Kancor, Smt. Meena Vishwanathan, Chief Coordinator,

Programmes, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, Shri. Vivek Krishna Govind, Senior Partner,

Varma & Varma Chartered Accountants and Shri. Jacob Joy, Founder, Jakobi Chocolatier graced

the occasion with their presence. It was followed by a workshop for the students of Std XI. The

resource persons were Mr. Deepu Xavier, Co founder, Zappyhire and Mr.Jolly Jose Pynadath, Co

founder & CEO, Happymindz.

Our school hosted Pratheeksha 2023 'Feria Technologica': Edición Jurasica, the Annual

inter-school fest on 16 September 2023. Participants engaged in a plethora of contests, ranging from

digital painting and coding challenges to tech innovation pitches, virtual ramps, robot combat, and

the creation of imaginative realms.

 

As part of the Kerala Piravi Day celebrations, our school organized an enthralling

Nadanpattu performance by Meleri Nomadic Folk Band. The raw way of singing, the rustic

charm of the lyrics and the sheer energy made it quite an experience both for the ears and the

eyes.

The DE LEGATUS MUN Club of our school organized an Intra MUN Conference on

27 November 2023.

 

Our school proudly hosted the H&C State Level Quiz Finals on 13th January 2024. The

occasion was graced by the presence of Sri. Dr. Tiju Thomas IRS,the Additional Director

General of Revenue Intelligence for Kerala and Lakshadweep region and renowned quiz master,

Sri. Sidhartha Basu.

 Aimed at showcasing the students’ technical skills, the second edition of Praudyogiki,

the inter school tinkering fest was organised by the school on 20th January 2024. It was marked

by the active participation of students from various schools in and around Kochi.

 

NEW INITIATIVES

 

The Guides Unit, a new initiative of our school under the able guidance of Smt. Susheela Gopinathan and Smt. Shilaja T R, is a dynamic community, comprising 39 members who exemplify dedication and enthusiasm. This group, marked by a harmonious blend of leadership and camaraderie, actively participates in a range of activities aimed at fostering personal growth and community service.

The auspicious occasion of Vijayadasami Day witnessed the traditional ;Vidyarambham; ceremony in our school, symbolizing the initiation of children into the world of letters. Students and teachers alike participated in this sacred ritual with profound reverence.  

The inauguration of De Legatus Model United Nations Club on 26 October 2023 by Principal Smt. Mini K marked the beginning of a new chapter in Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara's quest for international understanding and diplomacy. The club's logo that

symbolizes unity and cooperation was unveiled in the inaugural ceremony. The school was

certified as an India MUN affiliated academic institution for its commitment to fostering an

environment of leadership and active engagement in addressing most pressing climate and

sustainability issues.

The school has recently established a school band that stands as a noteworthy addition to

our vibrant educational landscape. Through active participation, members of the band learn the

significance of discipline, the art of teamwork, and the importance of following directions. As an

integral component of our school's extracurricular activities, the band contributes significantly to

the holistic development of our students.

 

BEOSA

 

Bhavan’s Elamakkkara Old Student’s Association (BEOSA) organised the second edition of

“Thirikae” in the school auditorium on 16 July 2023 from 9.30 am and was attended by a large

turnout of alumni. The vibrant bond between the school and BEOSA was evident throughout the

programme.

Other activities organized by BEOSA include a webinar by Dr. Sunu Engineer, IUCAA,

Pune on the topic Astrophysics meets Artificial Intelligence and an Orientation Programme for class

 

XI by Sri. Harikrishnan Ravindran FCIArb, Commercial Lawyer and Senior Legal Consultant, Lutfi

& Co Advocates and Legal Consultants.

 

SEED

 

? Members of the SEED club took up various endeavors which not only provided tangible support to

those in need but also planted the seeds of empathy in the hearts of the younger generation. The

ongoing initiative, 'Oru Kaithangu for 50@50,' launched in the preceding academic year, persists in its

commitment to easing the challenges faced by fifty underprivileged families through monthly

donations of Rs. 2000. Notable outreach endeavours this year encompass the distribution of Onam kits

to bedridden patients in Palliative care units and the provision of essential supplies to the Capernaum

Charitable Trust. These initiatives reflect the compassionate endeavors of the SEED club members,

exemplifying the programme's enduring impact on the community. The SEED members were also

active participants in various activities like Cleaning Campaign, We Can Heal Project, Cochin

Sustainable Design Campaign, Tree Walk and so on.

? Adriel Sebastian (VIII F ), Nivedh Krishna (IV C), Sharan Suresh (IX E) and Rahul Rajesh (VIII F)

attended the "Grow Green" SEED Workshop at FBOA Auditorium, Aluva.

? Selected SEED members participated in the SEED Distribution 2023-24 and Grow Bag Making

Training Programme at Arboretum, Aluva.

 

MOTIVATIONAL TALKS AND SESSIONS

 

Various health and wellness webinars, awareness sessions, motivational talks etc were

organized throughout the year to ensure a better personality development among the students, as

we believe that each child is unique and possesses inherent potential. A handful of subject

specific webinars and career guidance sessions were also arranged for the students of the senior

secondary section. Seminars and awareness sessions on topics like Road Safety Awareness,

 

cyber safety, substance abuse, ‘Use Heart, Know Heart’, Financial Literacy, orientation program

on Civil Service, career guidance courses for senior students etc. are to name a few.

The PTA organised a session on Stress Management for students of classes X and XII. A

session on Effective Parenting by the renowned psychologist Sri. Arun Sasi was also organised.

Anti Narcotics campaign, by Vimukthi Mission, was held in the school auditorium

22 January 2024. Students of class VII attended the same.

Asst. Commissioner of police P Rajkumar addressed the students of standard VII on 22nd

January 2024 highlighting the precautions, procedures and measures to be taken to prevent fires and

minimise the risks of fire related accidents.

 

INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

Building constructions and renovations

 

School renovation and restructuring are important for creating a contemporary

infrastructure that meets the needs of upgraded pedagogy. Reshaping the learning spaces and

making the construction futuristic adds value to a student’s life.

The construction of lifts in the Munshi Block which leads to the auditorium and the one

in the Sree Sankara Block has been completed and are awaiting approval from electrical

inspectorate. Construction of two new buildings with 28 classrooms, is on the anvil.
